NSEAD The Athene Trust maintains its links with NSEAD and seeks to support the activities of the Society and its members.

Welcome

The Athene Trust was established in 1996 by one of the oldest professional bodies in British education, the National Society for the Education of Art and Design (NSEAD) founded in 1888.

This independent charity seeks to promote confidence in the use of art, craft and design in all aspects of recovery and rehabilitation, for people of all ages in whatever circumstances and institutions in which they may find themselves, as well as helping the advancement of education of people throughout all stages of their life.

Since the establishment of The Athene Trust, it has supported several major projects and many in collaboration with national funding bodies.

‘We know the importance and necessity of a thriving arts sector to the health of the nation; to the quality and effectiveness of its education; to its civic and communal life; and to the quality of individual experience and personal lives.’

Sir Christopher Frayling, Rector of the Royal College of Art and Patron of the National Society for Education in Art and Design, and Chairperson of the Arts Council England. Writing in “The Independent” 21st February 2005.
