Making it Work

The NSEAD and the Arts Council England South East initiated Making It Work following publication of two reports by The Crafts Council in 1998.

The Trust has been involved with Making It Work since its formation in 1999.

In its first phase of activity, 2001-2004, Making it Work sought funding for and delivered four partnership projects, Hand To Eye, Reclaiming Craft, @Reading and Craft In Our Culture. The projects were funded by a variety of Trusts and Foundations and from The Regional Arts Lottery Programme. Making It Work also delivered a Continueing Professional Development Programme for teachers and concluded with a conference looking at craft in education.

The Athene Trust provided financial administration for Making It Work during its first phase of activity.

In its second phase of activity, Making It Work is delivering six projects funded by the Teacher Traing Agency (TTA), Creative Partnerships, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and The Head Trust.

The third phase of Making It Work will commence in January 2007, subject to funding.

The Athene Trust has been responsible for the financial administration of the project work of the organisation and it continues in that role.

This link will provide much information on the project itself.
